Mr. Chaib chairs coordination meeting with heads of consular posts in Southern Europe

The Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of the National Community Abroad, Sofiane Chaib, chaired a coordination and guidance meeting on Friday at the Algerian Embassy in Madrid. The meeting brought together heads of consular posts from across Southern Europe at the conclusion of his working visit to the Kingdom of Spain .
The statement noted that the meeting is part of a series of regular sessions with heads of consular missions. It was devoted to addressing various aspects of improving consular services for the national community abroad, as well as assessing preparations for the upcoming legislative elections. Regarding consular matters, the statement added that several practical measures were reviewed as part of ongoing efforts to modernize and upgrade services. Foremost among these is the remote renewal service for biometric passports, which is expected to enhance service quality and bring the administration closer to citizens.
The Secretary of State issued precise instructions, stressing the need to accelerate the implementation of these new measures through an approach based on effectiveness and efficiency .
Concerning preparations for the upcoming elections, Chaib emphasized "the need to achieve the highest level of readiness by mobilizing all human, material, and logistical resources." He also underscored the importance of strong coordination with representatives of the National Independent Authority for Elections (ANIE) abroad.
Concluding the meeting, Chaib highlighted "the importance of preparing for the summer season, which sees a significant influx of the national community returning to the homeland." He called for all facilitation measures to be implemented to ensure smooth travel and maintain high service standards.
